July 21, 2025Inspired by The Artist’s Way, I turned a little wooden treasure chest into what I call my safe place for fears.
A “God Vessel” is simply a container for my fears, worries, and concerns.
Julia’s basic idea is that we can trust in God—or some kind of higher power—and place our fears and worries into its hands.
Whenever I notice myself getting lost in my thoughts, I grab a Post-it, write down whatever is worrying or frightening me, fold the note up, and slip it through the slot like I’m putting a letter into a mailbox.
At first, I thought it couldn’t be a good idea to keep all those notes. Shouldn’t I just throw them in the trash?
But it’s not the same.
The little treasure chest sends a different message:
Your fears and worries are not trash. They matter.
But I can put them down because, right now, there’s nothing I can do with them.
They get a special place in the box, while I get to move through my day a little more freely and with a little less weight on my shoulders.
Of course, your God Vessel doesn’t have to be a treasure chest. Maybe you have another container that feels right to you—a box, a jar, or even a bottle.
The most important thing is that neither you nor anyone else is meant to read what’s inside.
It’s simply a place to put your worries down—like a letter you’ve dropped into a mailbox, knowing you won’t be able to take it back out and read it again.
Write it down. Fold it up. Let it go.
